After witnessing the swirling motion in a milk/food coloring/detergent mixture on the first day of school, students developed an investigative question and hypothesis to create an experiment that might answer the questions that this phenomenon fostered in their scientific minds. Kudos, shout-outs and bunches of roses to the elementary teachers who have these kids up to speed on "variable" and "hypothesis" before they walk through my doorway on the first day of school!
